Income Inequality from Kuznets Perspective

From an industry based economy to a service society

Shares of labor force by economic sectors and Gini-coefficent of taxable income as a measure for inequality

Over the last 50 years (1960-2010) Switzerland experienced a striking change of its economic structure. The decline of primary and secondary sectors went along with a rise of service based economic activity (third sector). Though, no eruptive change of income inequality occurred.

Remark: The blue line in the lower part of the graph represents the development of inequality (Gini) as well, but on a different scale.
